Boise
Boise, Idaho is a vibrant city steeped in history, culture, and natural beauty. Set amidst the majestic Idaho-Bitterroot Rocky Mountains, Boise is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. It is a great place to stop for anyone driving through the Pacific Northwest, but it is also a destination for many travelers due to the local ski resorts such as Bogus Basin, rivers, and hiking trails just outside the city.

Begin your visit at the Old Idaho State Capitol Building. This stately structure was built in 1905 and is the oldest state capitol building in the Northwest. Inside you’ll find an array of historical artifacts and exhibits detailing Idaho’s history and culture. After exploring the capitol, take a stroll through the Boise River Greenbelt, a 25-mile urban park that follows the Boise River. During the summer, the Greenbelt is a popular spot for biking, walking, and picnicking. You can also take a raft or tube down the Boise River, starting at Barber Park and ending at Anne Morrison Park.

No visit to Boise is complete without a trip to the Boise Foothills. This vast expanse of mountains and hills provides an extraordinary view of the city. As you hike through the foothills you’ll see a variety of wildflowers, wildlife, and breathtaking panoramas. Just don’t forget to bring your camera!

After a day exploring the outdoors, head to downtown Boise. This historic area is full of unique shops, restaurants, and bars. There are many great, upscale spots to get food such as Chandlers Steak House, Little Pearl Oyster Bar, and The Lively, though it is recommended to book a reservation ahead of time, especially in the summer.

You will also want to visit the Basque Block, home to a variety of unique shops and restaurants that you won’t find anywhere else in the United State. Boise is home to the highest concentration of ethnic Basque outside of Europe – around 16,000 people.

Boise is also home to a wide variety of events and festivals throughout the year. The Treefort Music Festival is a five-day event featuring local and international indie bands, and the Boise Music Festival is a celebration of music and art that takes place during the summer. There is also the Spirit of Boise Balloon Festival, Art in the Park, the Basque Festival, and Festival of Trees.

Whether you’re looking for history, culture, or an outdoor adventure, Boise has something for everyone. From its vibrant downtown to its stunning natural beauty, Boise is sure to be a memorable destination.
