Ruby City is a ghost town in Owyhee County, Idaho. Formed in the 1800’s, from 1863 to 1867 it was the county seat. The town was named after the nearby Ruby Creek.

The town was founded in 1884, when gold was discovered in the area. The town quickly grew to a population of over 1000, and had several businesses, including stores, saloons, and a blacksmith. However, the gold in the area played out quickly and the town began to decline. By the early 20th century, most of the population had moved away and by the 1930s, the town was all but abandoned.
